A German foreign office official stated in Berlin that Germany plans a real war against Britain within two months. He cited Balkan successes as the trigger and said attacks would target the British Empire in Egypt and the Suez region.
London dispatch reports the diplomatic corps at Nish has left for Cacak today. The Athens source confirms the move amid shifting Balkan contacts.
Police raided the Dave Torphy place on West Sixteenth Street at 8 PM Wednesday and arrested eleven men on charges of visiting a gaming house. Officers report two gaming tables found though not confiscated. Bonds set at 100 dollars each for October 26 in Mayor Fields' court. three men posted cash bonds.
Joseph Morrow of Heltonville, who handles the picking and packing for Robert Duncan, reported in the city that they have picked packed and shipped about 2 000 bushels of Nos 1 and 2 apples to New Albany where they are stored in cold storage.
Joé Armstrong and Elijah Mce Knight received a car load of cattle in East St. Louis to feed for the market. Fred Fields plans a five room cottage on his H Street property between 14th and 15th streets for his family. Mrs. Ernest Whittenback returns from visiting relatives in Bloomfield Clay City Higville and Cole City with her son Henry.
Miss Mamie Myers enjoyed a pleasant surprise birthday party hosted by friends at her east city home Wednesday night. Amusing parlor games and light refreshments followed by well wishes marked the eighteenth birthday. Gifts were many and thoughtful from attendees including Misses Mary Sheeks Beatrice Beavers Carla Wilking Ruth Lambrecht Maude Batman Hazel Rogers Madaline Bale Gretchen Powe Josephine Leahy Audrey Beavers Clyde Wilking and others. Guests A Fiddler George Lambrecht Leo Lambrecht Cecil Litzler Harold Sherril Cecil Hawkins Godfrey Hawkins Cecil Sheeks Edgar Root Claude Batman Walter Ragar Stanley Reuter also attended.
J Boyd Jones reports the Institute at the Christian church continues with growing programs. Wednesday night Prof Wallace Tittle led song service with three solos. C W Cauble spoke on The Every Member Activity urging financial participation and shared leadership of kingdom work. Prof Underwood returns to class work. Pendleton arrives from Canton Ohio for sessions.
Kate Green 10 daughter of Mr and Mrs Sol Green North street underwent a minor tonsil removal operation by a local physician. Parents report she is getting along nicely and expects an early recovery.
James Thomasson and Mr and Mrs George Thomasson, once local residents now living near Cincinnati in Greene County, were in town Thursday. Carl Vaught four year old son of Mr and Mrs William Vaught of West 19th Street is suffering from jaundice. Moses F Dunn's condition remains about the same.
Bedford Indiana October 20 1915 Lawrence County Republican Club passes a resolution endorsing Senator Charles W Lanz of Bedford for the office of Treasurer of State. Lanz a Lawrence Martin Orange counties senator of 1914 1915 is described as energetic leader with deep community ties and prior service in town and county offices.
Ford High School basketball notes that Swifz City, after beating Bedford 35 to 15 and losing in extra time to Bloomington, visits Bedford High Friday night. The game starts at 8 15 in the high school gym with a curtain raiser at 7 30 between Bedford first team reserves and the second team. An escaped convict case from Jeffersonville prompts a call to have bloodhounds ready to trail the Evansville suspect.
Thomas Reynolds died in Terre Haute on Wednesday at age 74 due to age and war service illness. He served in the Civil War and resided in Bedford until two years ago. He leaves three daughters and five sons including James Reynolds of Oolitic. Funeral held in Terre Haute Thursday.
A Wednesday night initiation event at the Moose Hall drew a large attendance as members gathered for the program. Organizers reported strong turnout and community interest in the new class.
The Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 735 held a well attended banquet and initiation Wednesday night with speeches by local leaders including toastmaster O P M Davis. Dr IE E Mitchell Dr Dings Cort Pigg and Frank Stonaker contributed remarks and music. The next class will be taken November 24.

The Republican Club met at headquarters with a large, enthusiastic attendance to decide whether to hold a county rally soon. A committee led by Dan Moore and others will report at the October 27 meeting. Resolutions supported Charles W. Lanz for State Treasurer and John H. Edwards for Congress. Among out of town attendees were James Edwards Noble Moore Calvin Faris and Claude Colglazier.
Representatives of Indiana limestone interests with W A Cullop arrive in Washington to allege a contractor cartel limits use of Indiana dressed limestone. The case centers on whether dressing should occur in Indiana or at destination points, with A E Dickson C C Ingalls of Bedford and Fred Matthews of Bloomington presenting the issue to the Justice Department for possible Federal action.
Rockwood near Dresden hosts the annual fox drive this week with locals joining the event. Guy Buckles and John Milears bring two fox dogs noted for their strong performance last season. Mrs. Harve Fox returns from Jasonville after illness in her daughter, Mrs. Herman Taylor.
