The Woman's Foreign Missionary Society of the First Methodist church enjoyed an unusually interesting meeting Tuesday afternoon led by Mrs. Emma Ramsay. Reports from the Gosport district meeting by Mrs. Charles Allen and Miss Carrie Erwin were shared, followed by a social hour with refreshments.
The county clerk’s office received a recently issued unused marriage license and a request for its purchase price reimbursement. Indiana law provides no refund option for unused licenses, so the clerk stated refunds are not possible.
The First Methodist Church held revival services with strong attendance and a conversion, as Mrs. Frank L. Smith sang. The Official Board voted to end revival next Sunday and devote church effort to a temperance campaign. Prayer meetings were scheduled at multiple homes around the city.

John Kline, known for state fairs in the South, rushes home due to his mother Mrs. Abe Kline’s illness on West Fifteenth Street. He staged the Chattanooga fair last week and plans to visit Atlanta next week.
A dangerous Alpine climb near the frontier in an engagement with Italian forces is depicted. The photo shows a wounded Austrian being aided uphill by comrades, while two others stand ready below in case the rope fails. Such scenes are a daily occurrence in the Alpine fighting.
After a brief deliberation the jury found Louis Szcczepan sky Delbert McDonald Roy Hatfield William H. Sanders and Otto Megawa guilty of visiting a gaming room. Each was fined ten dollars plus costs and sentenced to ten days in jail. The cases began at seven and the men were tried together. They were arrested near the David Torphy place and will appeal to circuit court.
Mrs Rosa Taylor celebrated her 44th birthday Monday at her East 7th Street home with neighbors and friends. The gathering included Mr and Mrs Frank Sharr and daughters and several others who extended best wishes and presents. Florence Norton traveled from Sioux City to attend the event and discuss a theatrical career leading to a position as leading lady with a company bound for Winnipeg Canada.
The State of Indiana versus intoxicating liquors and Sam Romine resulted in a default finding against the liquor when Romine failed to appear. The seized liquor originated from a raid by the police at the Romine property conducted some time earlier.
County coroner Oliver McLachlan, who fell ill two weeks ago, shows marked improvement. He remains homebound but optimistic about leaving for recovery in a few days.
Mr and Mrs N M Shees of Broad Ripple left Thursday morning for home. Mr Shees a prominent farmer visited to handle a real estate deal that could settle his future in Lawrence County.
William A. Terry of Shoals and Mrs Elizabeth Rutledge of Martin county were married this forenoon at 40 o'clock by Justice Malott at his J street office. The couple left the city for their home in Martin county.
The United States Marine Band gave a concert in Terre Haute on Thursday and will perform in Indianapolis Saturday. Bedford was offered a visit by the band but the offer was not accepted. The note adds Sousa's Band would have surpassed it, had plans for a Bedford concert earlier last summer near the San Francisco exposition come to fruition.
