William Blackburn, a young married man charged with rape against six year old Lilian Brown, was released after a preliminary hearing. The judge ruled there was no probability of guilt, releasing him to await circuit court. The witness testified strongly for the state but recanted on cross examination.
A Columbus pitcher is in town on a brief business visit through Friday. He is staying at a downtown hotel and plans meetings with local clubs and sponsors.
The report notes Mrs Otto Shoulty underwent a surgical operation at City Hospital. The operation was performed by Dr John R Pearson with assistance from Dr Norman. Creamer, a local pitcher, is home for business affairs and recovering from a minor arm issue.

The daughter of Mrs. Sparks of West 19th Street fell Wednesday morning and fractured her left arm in a peculiar bend rather than a clean break. The injury was described as a bent bone rather than fully fractured.
Bryant White departed today toward Bloomington after receiving a telegram from a Lexington hospital. His wife remains critically ill with typhoid fever as doctors report no change and anticipate Sunday crisis. White plans to return to Lexington on Saturday if her condition allows.
Mrs. Herman Faylor and her daughter Frances, guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. Fox on South H Street, returned Thursday to Jasonville. Obed Lamb of Williams was in the city today on business.
Deputy Sheriff J. Lee sustained a broken right shoulder after falling on railway tracks in Oolitic while pursuing John Todd for a Greene county paternity complaint. Lee had Todd in custody when the suspect broke away. Lee pursued and fell, injuring the shoulder.
The death of Roy H Todd occurred in Ontario California on Tuesday and will shock his relatives and friends in this city. Born and raised here he lived here until youth and later worked in piano business in Kentucky before moving with his family to Ontario three years ago. He had suffered from tuberculosis for many months and his death had been expected for some time.
Washington May 8 the senate pressed the sundry civil bill and rejected a bid to strike out a provision exempting labor unions from anti trust prosecutions. Wilson met with senators on patronage and a list of 250 postmasters nominations was sent to the senate. Adjournment set for Friday.
The Merchants Association may be invited to bid for the winter quarters of a large circus moving its show from another town. They seek land about 1.5 miles from the city, offering 150 acres or more at prevailing prices, to provide an ideal site for the circus facilities.
The Local Council of Women met at the Presbyterian Church to discuss fly control and a pamphlet campaign for schools. They reviewed fly borne disease risks, censorship of moving pictures, and a program on educational uses of moving pictures with input from Mrs Louise Tracy and others.
The Merchants Association elected J. D. Martin president George Foster vice president and H. G. Wilson secretary for the coming year. A committee Lee Bailey Clay Duncan and Harry Gainey will negotiate with the city to restart the flusher service. The city owns the flusher and merchants will cover running costs if repairs are kept up, with operation to start soon.
