Robert Mathes received a letter from Colorado Springs announcing the death of A. D. Hinshaw in that city on Tuesday. Hinshaw, about 60, was a prominent county resident who had traveled with his wife seeking asthma relief. Telegraph news delayed by strike. body expected to arrive and be buried at Mt. Olive.

Mrs. Charles Webster and her two year old daughter perished when theirMentone area farm home caught fire while she tried to light a stove with oil. The blaze destroyed the house as two other young girls escaped screaming for help after witnessing their mother engulfed in flames. An explosion in the kitchen followed as a can of gasoline and coal oil were involved.
L. E. Payne received a Friday morning letter from his sister in law Mrs. Breckenridge of Louisburg Kansas noting her son George B. Breckenridge was killed on a railroad near Ottawa Kansas August 17. The letter provides no further details.
