President Wilson will begin his speaking tour September 3 in Columbus Ohio and address the public. The second speech will be in Indianapolis on September 5. He will be accompanied by Mrs Wilson Secretary Tumulty Dr Grayson three stenographers secret service men and newspaper correspondents departing on a special train the night of September 3.
Governor Goodrich announced that the state militia would be withdrawn from Hammond by nightfall. The Gary Elkhart and Ft Wayne companies had already departed, marking the final phase of the withdrawal.
Relatives gathered at the Owens home in Oolitic on Tuesday August 24 for a farewell party as he departs September 1 for Albuquerque New Mexico for health reasons. A noon dinner was served and many family members attended.

A 19 year old, Roger Kennedy, by his next friend Fred Kennedy and attorney Albert J Fields, sues Everett H Ryce in circuit court for 15000 damages claiming the truck wreck on Rivervale Hill was caused by a defective worn out vehicle and unsafe brakes. The suit cites injuries from the auto truck incident.
Evansville August 27 workers at Evansville Packing Company return after ten weeks. They resume on an eight hour day with higher pay. Company does not recognize the closed shop but agrees to rehire all workers and dismiss nonunion hires made during the strike.

The annual Hoyal Neighbors of America meeting was held Tuesday in Mitchell with representatives from Bedford Orleans French Lick West Baden Tunnelton and Bloomington. An afternoon session led to a picnic at the Elrod home and a Stone City Camp No. 5213 delegation exhibited work while several towns were received into the order. Krassell Young, 18, son of avd Young, was badly injured when a motorcycle collided with a moving train at the Seventh Street crossing of the Monon Railway. He was dragged about 80 feet and suffered the loss of a foot, a fractured right hip, and severe facial and hand injuries. He was taken to the watch house platform and then to a hospital for treatment.
