If only one candidate is certified by April 21 no primary occurs and the trio selects delegates to vote for that candidate. The Washington Democrat notes all candidates do not oppose Mr Davis receiving Greene county support.

Elisha Cole a nearly 80 year old recluse known as one of Warrick county’s quirkiest inhabitants was buried at Morrison Cemetery ten miles north of Boonville. He lived in a log hut near Stanley with a forty acre farm rented out each season, never tended the land, and filled his home with antique relics. He whittled wood, built a cultivator, and led a hermit life often avoiding neighbors. Mentally unbalanced in later years a guardian was appointed. he thought he had a daughter in Missouri and was the county’s sole hermit.
At St Marys Church in Kansas City area women attended service with bare heads after an injunction by Father Anton Kuhis banning Merry Widow hats over two feet in diameter. About a half cord of hats were left in the church ante room as worshippers filed in in silence. At nearby St Anthonys Father Muffingraft declined to regulate headwear noting architectural differences.
A Greene county tragedy reports two girls aged seven and three cremated when a fire broke out at William Watts farm in Jefferson township. While the father worked miles away, the mother left briefly to visit a neighbor and the children played in the barn starting the blaze. Ruth Myrtle and Mary Watts are named victims in the incident.
In a tragic barn blaze two older sisters Ruth and Mary perished as they tried to rescue their younger sister Myrtle. Ruth entered the burning structure to save Myrtle and both girls died before help could arrive. The parents were left in deep grief as neighbors and authorities investigated the deadly fire.
John Haverstahl of Peoria Illinois shipped ten thousand five hundred dozen eggs in one week. The Boston market bought at thirteen and a half cents a dozen after purchase at spring low. He earned a neat profit from the deal.
After six hours of deliberation a Bloominton Circuit Court jury awarded Clarence Ellis $1500 against Consolidated Stone Company for injuries from a co worker dumping broken stone over an embankment. Ellis, a breaker at the quarry, suffered a spine lesion.
After Sullivan county rescinded Welman’s delegates action and ordered township selections, the Call appeals on behalf of Greene county Democrats to undo Davis’s appointment power and send the matter back to townships for delegate selection.
In Scranton, Waleskowe Wallgay stown Waleskowe, a 24 year old immigrant, was found dying in his room after an attack earlier in the evening. He was slashed across the throat and stabbed in the abdomen and robbed. He smoked a cigarette as police arrived and noted a thin cloud of smoke emerging from a neck wound.
Charles Burton auditor for United States Fidelity and Guaranty tells Judge Wilson the bonding house admits liability and would settle the shortage rather than fight a lawsuit. He plans to verify the complaint items against company records. Golliver allegedly owes over $2,000. Burton visited Golliver at Mitchell where he runs a moving picture theater.

Ewing Wright 67, a onetime Civil War veteran and resident of Bloomington, died suddenly of heart disease Saturday in the waiting room of Dr. L T Lowder. He had spent a restless night and was en route to visit his son Newton Wright when the episode occurred. He leaves a wife and two children Newton Wright of this city and Mrs. C. E. White of Nashville Tennessee.
A 1899 Indiana bill sought to establish an insane asylum for criminals at Jeffersonville funded by 25000 dollars and run by the Indiana Reformatory board. The measure, later embedded in statutes, remains unused as officials understand it is non operative and subject to repeal. Prosecutor and defense discussed mental condition of Henry Seifried in Indianapolis court as the case stalled.

A half grown kitten was found inside a mail box at Michigan street and Arsenal avenue in Indiana polis after a postal collector unlocked the box yesterday. The cat was freed unharmed and placed somewhere safe.
Thomas J. Gratzer and Maude May Kimbrell wed at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Christian church parsonage on South H Street with Rev. Melvin Putnam officiating. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kimbrell, works as a saleslady at the Chicago Branch dry goods. The groom, son of Police Chief John Gratzer, works at a quarry in Ketchams. They left by the 3:20 train for Clear Creek to begin their life together.
The White River News reports Hazelton and Decker melon growers have most seed beds prepared. They use small wooden boxes with glass covered hot beds to sprout plants quickly. When plants are robust, they move the boxes to hillside fields, transplanting without disturbing soil or roots.
On May 1 the United States will sell 2 185 farms irrigated under the reclamation act. Properties range from 10 to 160 acres with an $8 entrance fee and $3 per acre yearly for ten years. Sales limited to actual settlers and ready for cultivation. Also noted are newly issued marriage licenses for Joseph H. Dosch with North Hays and Thomas J. Gratzer with Maude May Kimbrell.

State Chemist H K Barnard reports Bedford public wells yield high purity water based on tests of a sample from the northeast square well. Results show very slight turbidity and sediment, nitrate zero, chlorine 1.3, hardness 87, iron zero, and colon bacilli absent with an overall good water quality verdict.
John Kirby aged 19 from Ladoga is jailed in Crawfords ville after being taken from his 15-year-old wife Ruth Algood following a so called honeymoon. He previously forged $15 on his brother William Kirby, eloped to Indianapolis, confessed the forgery, and was released on suspended sentence. He later married Ruth in Danville and was re arrested on return to Roachdale as parents soften opposition.
Bedford Masonic lodges plan a May 2 dedication of their new hall in the Norton building. Grand lodge officers will attend and Calvin W. Prather, Grand Secretary, will deliver the principal address as District Grandmaster. A special committee is compiling the program for a gala lodge occasion.
State Board of Health reports February births at 4 468 with a rate of 20 4 per 1 000. Deaths were 13 8 per 1 000. Of 4 468 births 2 339 were male 2 129 female. There were 89 colored births 44 male 45 female.

A telegram from Byron Murphy to his parents confirms his marriage to Victorine Clements on Thursday night in East St. Louis. The couple had planned to wed in Lawrenceville but obtained a license elsewhere. Murphy is son of Bruce Murphy, B and O engineer and Auditorium rink proprietor. Mrs Murphy is described as a pretty young woman of this city. William Kingman, bookkeeper and cashier at W A Bradley Sona stone plant, enjoyed Easter Sunday in Indianapolis.
