Paoli Man Fatally Struck by Train Near Home
John Woods known as Doe Woods of Paoli was struck by a northbound Orleans branch train Thursday near his home. The 65 year old man suffered severe injuries including amputation of Quebec and two scalp wounds. He was walking along the track toward the station, a longstanding habit, on a curve near Paoli. No survivors. Authorities note uncertainty whether he heard the train or misjudged the danger.

Abe Kline and Family Escape Drowning in Flooded Highway

Temporary trestle bridges White River near city
The piling for a temporary trestle across White River west of the city is nearly finished and ready for traffic in a few days. The structure uses about forty five bents with piles and interlacing beams to resist drift. It will be safe in normal water but frail in low water, rising forty to fifty feet above the river. The work faced many difficulties setting piles in a swollen river with strong current.

Split revokes charter of Crawfordsville Moose lodge
A dispute over intoxicants in the lodge room caused a rift in Montgomery lodge No 6 Loyal Order of Moose Crawfordsville. The old charter was revoked and a new dry lodge named Crawfordsville lodge No 6 was formed with over fifty members joining. The former membership of about 300 declined to roughly 100 due to liquor use in the hall.
