Berlin dispatch confirms government troops have occupied the Krupp works at Essen, signaling a significant wartime control move. The report notes the occupation occurred in the German industrial hub, with implications for industrial output and regional security during the conflict.
A news agency dispatch from Omsk reports that about nine hundred Bolshevik soldiers were killed near Sarapka in a battle against Anti-Bolshevik forces. Two Red regiments were defeated in the engagement.

Pope, commanding officer of a unit in South Carolina, was en route for an experimental airmail route when the accident occurred. The body will be prepared for burial and brought to the city for interment.
War Department records show Mrs. Jane Fiddler R R 6 widow of John W. Fiddler awarded a pension of 25 dollars per month retroactive to December 6, 1918. W W Gyger reports the grant in the monthly notice. The article also notes real estate transfers and a civil suit filed by George Doyle Company against Ingalls Stone Company for damages of 7000 dollars over a contracted stone.

The 6 year old Helen Hettle, granddaughter of painter Peter Hettle, died after a 20 day battle with sleeping sickness following the flu. Despite seven physicians and nourishment attempts, the illness weakened her until death at midnight. Funeral set for Wednesday at 2:30 from the family home with burial at Rose Hill.
Raph Rich of 260 street broke the wrist while cranking a Ford when the car back fired. A physician reduced the fracture and he is in a sling. Also noted is Guy Bridwell taking a short lay off to assist with moving his parents from Indian Springs. A daughter Nancy Isabell was born Wednesday to Mr and Mrs Albert Fields.
Lieut Webb Gainey’s exhibition in the Gainey store window showcases Italian and Austrian war relics from the front. The centerpiece is an Austrian machine gun with a 50 cartridge belt, capable of 600 rounds per minute, plus gas masks, trench spade, rifles, helmets, haversacks, shells, shrapnel, sabres, and other equipment dating to 1854. Gainey recently returned from overseas with the U S Naval Auxiliary Reserve.
