Miss Gloria Jean Noble and George A. Treese wed at the Christian church in Clarinda Wednesday evening at 7 pm. Rev. Carter officiated. Hopkins high school seniors of 1948 and Supt. and Mrs. L C Skelton Miss Darlene Sybert and Paul Phillips returned Saturday from a trip to southern Missouri visiting places of interest. H A Johnston Dick Johnston and Bill Johnston of Johnston Implement Co Bedford attended a Midwest Dearborn dealers meeting in Des Moines on May 17. The event opened with a luncheon at Hotel Fort Des Moines and featured addresses from Dearborn Motors Corp Detroit officials and leaders from the National Marketing Organization for Ford tractors. Campbell Volunteers for Naval Duty Aboard USS English
Albert E. Campbell Jr a Seaman USNR son of Mr and Mrs Albert Campbell Sr volunteered for active duty until December and has been assigned to the destroyer USS English. The ship previously manned by regular Navy personnel will now rely on naval reserve volunteers to finish annual afloat training cruises in the Gulf of Mexico Caribbean and South Atlantic. During these two week cruises inactive and organized Reservists participate.
