Special Train Brings Li F Phillips to Kansas City Hospital
Li F Phillips long ill at Gravity, taken by a special Chicago to Kansas City train Friday with Kansas City physician Dr. L T Reed and nurse assisting. His sons Frank and Edd Phillips, both of Oklahoma, arranged and accompanied by Mrs L F Phillips and Waite Phillips, met at Merle Junction and transferred by cot to a Pullman state room. They arrived at St Joseph and Kansas City Union Station, where Phillips was immediately admitted. He underwent Saturday operation and was reported progressing well, in jovial spirits.

Returned Home and Cemetery Meeting Report
Frank Greeely returned home from California on Tuesday after spending the winter there. The cemetery association held a meeting Tuesday afternoon at the National Bank and elected superintendents for the year: Matt Lowry for Fairview and Mr. Crow for Bedford cemetery. Henry O'Dougherty of St. Joseph visited Bedford Wednesday for relatives and business. Ralph J. Richie of Shenandoah Artificial Ice Company visited Bedford Wednesday evening for plant business. Obituary Mary Jane Smelzer, born 1842 in Virginia, died February 15 at the county home. Funeral was at Titus cemetery, conducted by Rev. Gable. She was married first to James Hurt, with one child G. W. Hurt of Wyoming, and second to John W. Smelzer, who died in 1903.
