Two Hickman Brothers Hold Up Crap Game Then Kill Deputy
At Shenandoah last Saturday afternoon two men named Hickman Brothers Ben and Arthur from Coit Iowa robbed a crap game and after resisting arrest shot and killed Deputy Sheriff Patton of Pane County near Bingham station. They were captured two days later near Langdon Missouri by a single man after a large posse had searched for them. Templeton Shandy who made the capture is to receive the reward of 3900.00 for the fugitives.

By Monday the weatherman aided road repairs, allowing the city street commissioners to harrow all dirt roads inside city limits. Lora Cooper Trial for Stealing Hog In Iowa Court
The District Court hears the case State of Iowa versus Lora Cooper. The jury is out after two days of testimony. Cooper from near New Market is charged with stealing a hog in December. Co-defendant Roy Cline has a five year sentence for a similar charge. Cooper pleads not guilty as attorneys Wisdom and Kirketey defend him and H P Jaqua prosecutes. The hog was loaded with Cline and found dead and dressed on Cline’s farm. Sheriff Keith arrested both suspects and brought them to Bedford for court. Jurors include Ed Stewart and others. The trial draws crowded attendance from New Market and nearby areas.
