President Eisenhower spent a comfortable day at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital with no complications and was outside his oxygen tent for 13 hours. Doctors said he slept well through the night and had a very good night, with routines to aid rest. Contact with him has been minimal since the heart attack last Saturday.
Gov. Allen Shivers denounced the Supreme Court for ruling against segregation, calling it a political issue and accusing the court of overstepping its role. He spoke to about 1,000 delegates at the American Legion banquet, urging concerns over centralization and upcoming elections.
A Galveston County crackdown orders all vice dens closed by noon with a citizens action committee to enforce the order. District Attorney Marsence Johnson and Sheriff Frank L. Biaggne announced the edict as deputies carried it out amid warnings of payoffs and possible gangster retaliation. Ministers and civic leaders organized a pledge drive to oppose law violations and join the enforcement effort.

Officials in Baylor and Knox counties assess1 Brazos River flood damage near 1 million dollars. The Brazos crest reached about 21 feet after West Texas rainfalls up to 10 inches, inundating thousands of acres of crops and farmland. A cold front moving southeast toward Oklahoma could drop temperatures by around 10 degrees and reach Texas by Thursday night.

Rosalie Myers reports on Dick Causey and his father R D Causey, a Texas rodeo duo in Crosby and Baytown shows. Brother of Bert Allman of Baytown, van Allman, 46, will lie in state Friday at Emkin Linton Funeral Home Texas City. Graveside service will be held at 4 pm at White Elk. He worked at Van-American refinery and suffered a spring injury in a recent accident. He died after a long illness at 7 am in Galveston hospital. Survivors include his Baytown relatives and four sisters.
Baytown Fair rodeo tickets go on sale as final plans are completed. Boxes and single-night seats offered at 45 and 15 dollars with 2.50 per ticket for individual entries. Regular admission 60 cents for children, 80 cents for adults. Proceeds go to premium awards and youth tour. committee dinner and parade entries noted.
