State Water Board Sets Game Plan to Finish Galveston Bay Study
Texas Water Quality Board votes to complete the Galveston Bay pollution study despite federal funds blocking. EPA official Arthur Busch would not release about 300,000 of remaining funds, while Congress earmarked roughly 2600,000 for the two year effort. Chairman Gordon Fulcher says Busch questions the study’s structure and favors a San Jacinto River basin focus. The board estimates about 330,000 more is needed to wrap up, and urges the state to finish it the best way possible.
