Barbers Hill Primary and Barbers Hill Intermediate will return on Monday September 29 due to Hurricane Ike complications. All other Barbers Hill campuses begin class today with fuller details on the district website bhisd.net.
The restoration of power and cleanup at Lee College continues. All Lee College employees are to return to work Thursday, Sept. 25. Classes will resume Monday, Sept. 29. Check the college website or call for further updates.

Baytown officials press CenterPoint for faster power restoration as many residents and city facilities remain without electricity. Mayor Stephen DonCarlos says crews are being dispatched and estimates power could return in most ZIP codes by Thursday, though not guaranteed. Lift stations and sewer systems rely on power, with Governor Perry urged to aid the effort.
Goose Creek ISD reports eleven campuses without power early this week after Hurricane Ike. Two Lakewood area schools Travis Elementary and Baytown Junior may not resume until October 6, one week after other district schools planned to reopen on September 28. Superintendent Barbara Sultis says she will press CenterPoint Energy for faster restoration and consider alternative solutions if these two campuses cannot open with the rest.
Lee College regents pursue the next president while power outages linger from Hurricane Ike. Three “super finalists” will be announced soon, with interviews already completed off site. Regents also discussed budget items and reported property value at 348,800 with a 100 percent tax collection rate, noting tax reductions for constituents.
