City works to restore Baytown lights after outages

Goose Creek looks to reopen most schools after Ike damage

Goose Creek ISD reports eleven campuses without power early this week after Hurricane Ike. Two Lakewood area schools Travis Elementary and Baytown Junior may not resume until October 6, one week after other district schools planned to reopen on September 28. Superintendent Barbara Sultis says she will press CenterPoint Energy for faster restoration and consider alternative solutions if these two campuses cannot open with the rest.

Lee College president search continues after Ike impact

Lee College regents pursue the next president while power outages linger from Hurricane Ike. Three “super finalists” will be announced soon, with interviews already completed off site.
