C P Burnett of 420 Fearrill nearly bled to death after a leg artery was severed by a pocket knife last week. A coordinated rescue involved strangers and neighbors who stopped the blood, an ambulance crew, and a swift hospital transfer. Mrs W W Kirkpatrick, 404 Wtones, reported a panicked call and alerted the operator Marehret Garrett and Baytown telephone staff who guided responders. Burnett recovered after a rapid, life-saving effort and praised several people including Raye Carlton for handling the emergency. He returned to work Monday grateful to those who helped.

The exercise aimed to locate a missing parachute. Baytown Stovall was closest to the gear but the parachute was not found. Baytown squadron members logged six hours of flight time in a Houston CAP sponsored operation. A 45 minute Alaska hunting trip movie by Jimmy Carpenter will highlight Monday night’s meeting and Dan Harrisburg COACTE Dan Stailworth will speak at a Rotary luncheon Tuesday.
