Texas Voter ID Law Now In Effect
Texas voters must show a photo ID to vote with seven acceptable forms including an Election Identification Certificate. The EIC is free, valid six years, and available at DPS offices statewide. 70+ has no expiration. Some voters by mail are exempt from presenting ID. The measure followed a Supreme Court ruling easing federal preclearance for state elections.
