Arabs Israelis Blame Cease Fire on World Body
At the United Nations both Arab and Israeli delegations voiced dissatisfaction with a Security Council resolution urging strict observance of the month old cease-fire and cooperation with Gunnar Jarring. Israel condemned the text for not condemning Egypt and called for a balanced approach. Egypt, while saying it would cooperate with Jarring, avoided a promise to observe the cease-fire fully. In Washington, Democratic doves urged Hubert Humphrey to propose a limited Vietnam bombing halt to win dissident support, with Sen. Pastore and others weighing the political risks and potential impact on peace talks.
