Fidelis plans phased Baytown mall redevelopment with new cinema
Fidelis plans a three phase redevelopment of the Baytown mall off Interstate 10 starting 2019 with demolition of the Bealls and a final stage demolishing the JCPenney building. The project aims for 1 million square feet of retail space on the site and potential expansion to include a new cinema, pending community and city approval. Local merchants remain in place as phases unfold and tenants relocate to new spaces. The plan relies on an interlocal agreement with the City of Baytown and a $7.25 million demolition budget to clear the mall progressively.
