Anahuac Gatorfest Opens With Big Turnout and Hunts
Anahuac prepares for Gatorfest as the Great Texas Alligator Roundup draws thousands to Chambers County for a 20 day event running through Sept 30. Since 1984 the hunt permits local trapping and sale of gators with about 100 000 alligators in the area and up to ten percent of Texas harvests headed to local buyers. The festival features airboat rides carnival attractions and free or small fee educational tents alongside fishing birding and hunting guides.
