New BH School Chief Is Ready For The Challenge
Bill Farmer is named superintendent of Barbers Hill Schools and invites the public to a 7 to 9 p.m. reception at Barbers Hill High School Thursday to meet his family. He and his wife Betty Ethridge moved to Mont Belvieu Aug. 15 and join Mort Belview First Baptist Church. Farmer comes from Bertram, cites education degrees from Cumberland College and Western Kentucky, plus doctoral coursework at North Texas. He served in the Army 1957 to 1962, taught and coached in Goree and Millsap before becoming Bertram superintendent in 1967. Betty earned a science degree at Payne College and taught in Farley and Goree.

North Vietnam began a week of mourning for Ho Chi Minh after the 79 year old president died of a grave heart attack. Radio Hanoi reported the death at 9:47 am Hanoi time and said a state funeral would be held, though the date was not announced. The North Vietnamese delegation at Paris requested a monument for today’s peace talks but planned to resume Thursday.
