Baytown boy Garrie D Johnson, 12, was struck by a car driven by Richard Earl Bardwell, 22, as he rode north on Craigmont Street near the McElroy Swimming Pool. Johnson suffered a broken right leg and was taken to San Jacinto Methodist Hospital. Bardwell faced negligent collision and improper lookout charges in Judge Barney Edwards Corporation Court.

Baytown has revised its city traffic code with new speed limits across multiple streets following a council vote. The changes include 40 mph on Bayway Drive, 46 mph on Tri-City Beach Road, 40 mph on Garth Road, 45 mph on Baker Road, 35 mph on Lee Drive, and 33 mph on Park Street Drive. some zones were not previously regulated.
