Cleaning Files in the Bat Cave Reveal Decades of Clippings
A writer recalls cleaning a storied Bat Cave office and uncovering a large envelope of materials spanning nearly fifty years. The finds include a 1957 high school graduation invitation, early sports clippings, a 1969 stadium photo, the death of Johnny Lyons in 1971, a 1973 snow scene, and letters from Frank Broyles and Lou Holtz. The collection also features a 1964 Bay City Tribune debut column and a Gov. Preston Smith encounter from the early 1970s.
