In 1950 two Baytown patrolmen faced federal court in Houston on charges of depriving a black man of civil rights. By 1975 Crosby Elementary School trustees saw slim odds for near term air conditioning. In 1990 Baytown kept third in Harris County sales tax rebates behind Houston and Pasadena. An Exxon Crosby store manager sparked a mini gas war with a 10 cent price cut, met by a Shell rival dropping prices to under state averages.
