Police report a break in at Taqueria Arandas in the 2300 block of Garth Road around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday. Suspects forced entry and stole about $250 in quarters from a gaming vending machine, causing roughly $700 in damage to the restaurant.
A Meadowglen resident told police that a longhaired white and red spotted Chihuahua weighing about six pounds was stolen from her backyard around 1 30 p m. The incident was noted after another report of a dog theft near North Highway 146 around 12 30 a m Wednesday.
Police report several vehicle burglaries in Baytown with losses from 10 500 at an Interstate 10 motel to 800 at Rollingbrook and 577 at Garth, plus a purse theft on Garth Road. Between Tuesday and Wednesday mornings Baytown police filed 42 offense reports including eight vehicle burglaries and seven thefts. Crime Stoppers offers rewards for tips.
Police report a gum ball machine filled with gum and coins stolen from a Kroger store in the 4500 block of Garth Road. The loss totals 1000 dollars and the theft occurred between September 16 and Tuesday. A generator was stolen from an open garage in the 4700 block of Country Club View between 3 p.m. and 4 40 p.m. Tuesday, worth 800 dollars.
A residence in the 2700 block of Cedar Bayou was burglarized between 4 45 pm and 7 51 pm Tuesday. A computer was among property taken, with total loss about 1889 dollars, police said.
Two Baytown men were arrested in the 800 block of Market Street about 11:50 p.m. Tuesday when police stopped the vehicle they rode in for a traffic violation and found one man in possession of crack cocaine. A Baytown detective detained two men for public intoxication in the 3400 block, leading to additional cocaine possession arrests.
The obituary notes the passing of Tovtintp iat Pvet en at Armand Bayou Nature Center with a Celebration of Life on Oct 29. He is survived by his wife Gloria, a son Michael, daughter-in-law Lisa, granddaughter Amanda, and stepson Brett. Arkansas man Dennis Earl Bradford 40 waived extradition rights after being arrested in North Little Rock on charges of kidnapping sexual assault and attempted murder in the 1999 Dickinson case of 8 year old Jennifer Schuett. Prosecutors say DNA from clothing linked Bradford to the crime and he could be returned to Galveston County soon.
A Crime Stopper tip led Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force to arrest 32 year old Messer at an apartment complex on Garth Road. The Aug 30 incident involved assault on his eight months pregnant girlfriend, theft of $320, and a bicycle escape after a day of alleged intoxication.
The National Weather Service outlook projects a warm autumn weekend across Texas with mid 70s highs and mid 50s lows continuing into October. Northern Texas may see a slight rain chance near Dallas and Fort Worth with upper 70s highs and 50s overnight, while the Panhandle stays mostly sunny in the mid 70s and around 50 after dark. Central Texas faces fog and a few showers before 10 am, then mostly cloudy with upper 80s highs and near 60 lows. Gulf Coast areas look at a slight rain risk after 1 pm with 90 degree highs and 60s nights, and western Texas stays sunny with upper 80s and around 60. The AP contributed to this report.
