Kick Off Rally Set For Smith In Houston Monday
Lt Gov Preston Smith launches a six county kick off rally in Houston Monday from 2:30 to 4:30 PM at the Rice Hotel Grand Ballroom. Harris County campaign chair J Doug Toole says the event opens a broader statewide drive with more than 1000 expected attendees. Recruiting Envy As City Tries 1800 Dates for Cadets
CHICAGO AP James Mc Donough city streets and sanitation commissioner is tasked with recruiting 1,800 high school graduated girls as blind dates for Air Force cadets and Naval Academy midshipmen after the Navy Air Force football game at Soldier Field. He has less than two weeks to sign up participants. In 1965 five thousand women competed for two thousand men. Girls will be matched to cadets by squadron and number and must arrange their own rides home. Chicago will spend about 250,000 for transporting and entertaining sailors and airmen as the process unfolds.
