Baytown and the Baytown Municipal Development District will hold a groundbreaking for the Northeast Wastewater Treatment Plant at 8808 Needlepoint Road on Oct 16 at 9 am. The project costs total about 28.5 million dollars, financed by Texas Water Development Board loans and local revenue. The plant will treat up to 4 million gallons daily, expandable to 16 million, serving north and east Baytown and freeing capacity at the East District plant for growth. Offsite improvements designed by Pate Engineers will connect new and existing lines, with CSA Construction, Inc. as contractor and completion slated for late 2008.

Texas retail gasoline prices fall for a ninth week with regular self serve averaging 2.17 per gallon. The national average is 2.29, down a nickel. AAA Texas says prices have declined 75 cents in nine weeks from a high near 2.916, aided by lower crude prices rising inventories mild hurricane season and lower demand.
