Baytown hosts its 32nd annual Baytown Business Expo at the Baytown Community Center from 9 30 a m to 2 30 p m with over 60 exhibitors offering information on investments retirement and community opportunities The free event features door prizes games and a Best Booth judging panel including state Rep Wayne Smith City Councilman Robert Hoskins and Gilbert Santana Exhibitors range from auto dealers to banking and education to energy with sponsors Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital and various local businesses.

Baytown Art League Hosts 30th National Juried Show
The Art League of Baytown presents the National Society of Artists 30th Juried National Show from Saturday to October 25 at the Art Center of Baytown. Over 150 paintings sculptures and photographs from artists across the United States will be on display. An opening reception runs 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Visitors may meet artists on site, view a silent auction and a $450 art supplies basket raffle, with refreshments available. Susan Urban notes the league’s goal to enrich the community through art education.

Buses in Baytown get blue facelift and GPS app
Harris County Transit upgrades three Baytown buses with a deep blue wrap and white branding. The project costs about 19000 dollars. A new GPS phone app will show bus locations and arrival times, initially for Baytown then expanding to La Porte and Crosby.

Lee College wins $2.7 million First in the World grant
Lee College is among 24 nationwide recipients of the U S Department of Education funded First in the World program. The $2.7 million grant will support a Weekend College initiative to boost access and completion for underrepresented and low income students. The college will offer four accelerated degree programs with classes held on weekends for full time students.
