3000 Helped in 85 Goodfellows Benefit Children
In 1985 more than 3000 Baytown area children benefited from Goodfellows. This year at least that many will need help. Names come from Baytown schools and the Welfare League, a United Way agency. PTA volunteers screen eligibility to ensure genuine need. Send contributions to Chief Goodfellow at The Baytown Sun or deliver to 1301 Memorial Drive.

Kevins Courage Fights CF Ends At 18
Kevin Hendon dies at 18 after a long battle with cystic fibrosis. Born in Bayton, he lived with his parents Jerry and Ann Hendon, fought the disease with grit and spirit, graduated in the top quarter of his high school class, and contributed as a staff photographer and poet. He inspired others at Texas Children’s Hospital and received the Key of Courage and I Dare You awards. Services were set for Memorial Baptist Church with burial at Memory Gardens.

Christmas events light up Baytown with Santa visits
Santa arrives at San Jacinto Mall on Nov 29 kicking off days of holiday events in Baytown. The Parks and Recreation Christmas Parade on Dec 4 at 6:30 pm features 70 entries ending at Lee High School. A 7:30 pm Dec 5 concert at San Jacinto Mall stars Sheron Kaye with a sign language interpreter. Other activities include a Breakfast with Santa Dec 6, a St Nicholas Day Tree Fantasy by the Bay Area Heritage Society, the 20th Baytown Art Exhibition Dec 6–31, and a joint Christmas concert by the Baytown Symphony Orchestra and Baytown Community Chorus on Dec 7.
