Robbery Report and Baytown Police Beat Summary
A cashier in the 2000 block of Ward Road was robbed of 125 dollars after a man tried to buy cigarettes. Suspect described as a Black male mid-twenties, 5'8" 180 pounds with a short afro, wearing a black shirt and red pants, fled toward Taft Circle Apartments. Police also report arrests for public intoxication and disorderly conduct at a Garth Road nightclub, a delivery of crack cocaine in the 1700 block of North Alexander Drive, and a stop sign violation with expired registration leading to a Baytown jail transfer. Between 6 a.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday Baytown police responded to 159 calls for service with multiple incidents including alarms, assaults, burglaries, disturbances, forgeries, and accidents.

Kevin Devaughn Whittaker 34, of Houston, faces theft and weapon charges after suspected thefts from open garages in County Club Cove in April and May. Police say a pawn shop visit linked him to the gun used in the April burglary. Trial in Harris County’s 177th District Court begins March 31, 2006.

FEMA grants month extension for hurricane evacuees in hotels
FEMA extended its hotel housing program by a month in ten states including Texas Louisiana Georgia and Florida allowing evacuees to stay until January 7. Acting director Paulison said payments will continue while moving families from hotels and motels into apartments and stressed no one will be kicked out.
