Receptions for Lee presidential finalists planned at Lee College
The Lee College Board of Regents schedules community receptions next week in the Cyber Café of the Student Center from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. for three presidential finalists. Public invited. refreshments served. Monday features Dr. Lee Sloan of Del Mar College Corpus Christi with 14 years in current role and a record of bond campaigns and construction funding. Page 3.

Bowie Elementary dedicates new 94000 square foot campus
The Goose Creek district dedicated the James Bowie Elementary School campus built after a 2005 bond. The 94,000 square foot facility, enlarged from the 53 year old original building, was opened earlier this year. Superintendent Barbara Sultis credited community support and the school board for the bond election. Carl Burg spoke to explain the project.

Baytown Soldiers Meet in Iraq Highlight Local Ties
Three American soldiers from Baytown area towns met for the first time in Iraq. Sgt. Andrew Gardiner of Baytown Sgt. Robert Tepera of Crosby and Sgt. Richard Gigout of Highlands spoke about their roles in Charlie Company First Brigade 4th Infantry. Gardiner a supply sergeant and Gigout a medic described their medical duties aiding the brigade and Iraqi civilians. Gardiner noted his Baytown roots and that his mother Joan Gardiner still lives there.
