United Way Baytown on Track to Reach 2006 2007 Goal
The United Way of the Baytown Area reports early fundraising success led by Campaign Director Kris Barry with increased employee participation and overall giving. The campaign aims for 1.9 million dollars, with 1.643 million raised so far. Bill Blake a longtime Baytown used car dealer and Lee College regent died at a La Porte health care facility after a long illness. Born January 14 1929 in Devers he served in the U S Navy during the Korean War. He returned to Liberty County to work in car sales, his nephew said.

Flu shots become more available this year
In 2004 a national vaccine shortage followed a contamination at a major supplier. Pharmacist Jeff Terry of The Medicine Shoppe says this year should ease, though timing issues persist as FDA approvals arrive late. He has about 3,200 shots planned, with 30 daily now and more stock expected in December. Price is $31 per shot with Medicare billing.
