Emmett C. Smoky Wood, 91, died Sunday in a Baytown hospital. Services at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church. A carpenter at Exxon Baytown Refinery, he organized the Baytown Senior Citizens Club and Council, helped obtain senior homestead exemptions, and worked with Harris County and city governments. He aided in forming the Visiting Nurses Association and the Harris County nutrition center, and promoted the free taxi service for seniors.
