Vacation Plan Turns Into Giant Headache
LOS ANGELES AP Two German nationals were charged with mail fraud after promoting a “Deluxe Vacationer” plan promising 57 000 free vacations. Each winner would pay a 29 registration fee to a Hollywood firm to be refunded on departure for Acapulco or Hawaii. Hans George Aust and Roland Graber, both 27, were arrested in Austs Breslau home. They faced 15000 bonds each with a June preliminary hearing. The scheme claimed associations with leading travel agencies and 2000 prizes from a travel preference survey. TV Guide publisher Triangle Publications reported notifying postal inspectors as inquiries surged across the country. Palmer Alaska sits in the Matanuska Valley as the states only agriculturally based town with growth since the 1930s.
