Weekend Auto Accidents Put Two In Hospital Here
Two local weekend traffic crashes left two men hospitalized at San Jacinto Memorial. Harri man Harriman, a Franta Motor Co. mechanic, and 18 year old Tony Rahgle Perez from Cypress suffered serious injuries after a tire blowout and double rollover on High way 146 near La Porte and Decker Drive outside the city. Perez and Alfred Marron, 15, rode with Perez. Marron escaped with minor cuts. Deputies and state police linked Harriman’s crash to a four car collision that sent 20 year old Paul Mikulencak to Panadenia Medical Center. Richard Kneblick, 49, Pasadena, slowed for Harriman’s burning car and was rear ended by Claude Miller, 22, Texas City. Mikulencak was pinned in the wreckage before being treated and released.

An Air Force C-46 with five men aboard disappeared after failing to arrive at Kelly AFB on schedule. A Civil Air Patrol search launched at dawn, with planes from Austin, Temple, Waco, and San Antonio, tracked the hillside north west of San Antonio near Kerrville while residents reported hearing a low flying plane around 11 p.m. Lt. Col. Ross Jennings led the Kerrville operations.
