Goose Creek Memorial High School prepares for its fall opening with ongoing construction and a strong emphasis on staff and student readiness. On Tuesday at 6 p m, head football coach and athletic director Brett Boyd hosted a meet and greet at Gentry Junior School for coaches joining the Patriots program next year. All but one head coaching position softball remains to be staffed as the school builds its athletic staff.
Baytown prepares for Memorial Day with flowers and red silk poppies at street stops and store fronts. Veterans will sell the poppies and wear the POW emblem while communities observe the holiday alongside the Indianapolis 500. The tradition supports veteran services and traces to WWI poet John McCrae and American writer Mona Michael who popularized the red emblem.
Baytown City Council approved an ordinance prohibiting multicolored electronic changeable message LED billboards within city limits and ETJ.
