Meals policy eyed for out of district travel
The Barbers Hill district considers subsidizing meals for away athletes at $38,000 for 2001 02 and $43,000 for 2000 01 with likely $38,000 from the general fund in 2002 03. A new policy sets meal provisions for out of district travel over 40 miles or after 9 p m during extended tournaments, with coach discretion and parental notice in advance. The district also reviewed its tracking of leavers after outside TEA audits. An outside accountant reported a 3 percent error rate, four unaccounted former students, far below districts like Houston ISD with 25 percent errors.
