ExxonMobil Baytown unions approve four-year contracts

Chemical plant workers ratified a four-year deal raising top wages to 25.86 in year one and paying 52 cents more, while clerical workers accepted a four-year offer including a $1,000 one-time payment. The Baytown refinery now has all six unions on board.

Alligator nuisance calls rise in Texas residents urged to watch

Texas Parks and Wildlife reports more than 178 nuisance calls since March as alligators move into yards garages and ponds across counties Jefferson Liberty Chambers and Orange. Biologist Monique Slaughter cites peak nuisance season April through July with gators observed on Green's Bayou Lake Houston Parkway and Fairmont Parkway. Officers note most visits require intervention but not alarm.

Memorial Day service to honor Baytown soldier Sanders

The Kiwanis Club will add Astor N Sanders to the Baytown fallen list at Memorial Day services in Bicentennial Park Veterans Plaza. Sanders a World War II private first class was captured in Corigador in 1942 and died February 3 1945 in a Japanese POW camp. he grew up in Wooster and joined the Army in 1941. Niece Delia Adlong Harlan supplied his missing name.

Goose Creek graduates 1000 seniors in 2003 ceremonies

Goose Creek area journals report multiple high schools preparing graduation events for about 1000 seniors. Ross S Sterling High School expects roughly 500 graduates at 8 p.m. on May 31 at Stallworth Stadium. Robert E Lee High School lists 448 graduates at 8 p.m. May 30 at Baytown Christian Academy for 27 seniors. Anahuac High Senior Richard Olmsted Fatal Death Unsolved

Anahuac High School senior Richard Olmsted, 18, was found slain along W Bayshore Road between Anahuac and Oak Island in the early hours of January 5. Police now consider the death a possible homicide as leads remain scarce five months later. Trooper B. Henry of the Texas Rangers says the case has produced no solid leads and investigators continue to gather information.
