Bryan Beats Ganders 1-0 For Bunting
Bryan edged the Ganders 1-0 as Lee High left runners stranded in key spots. Dutore and Helver sparked Bryan’s lone run, while Elliott pitched well for Lee before a late misplay at the plate. Bob Visser’s throw to the plate couldn’t prevent the score as the series and district title went to Bryan.

Mitchell Has .361 Average But He Still Fights To Play
Cleveland Indian left fielder Dale Mitchell, amid battles for his job since 1946, remains in the lineup with a .361 batting average and steady within the pennant race. He credits competition with keeping his hitting sharp as spring training reshuffles yielded rookie Jim Fridley and late-season pushbacks. Mitchell's recent key hits include a ninth-inning infield single to beat the Red Sox, a single in the 1-0 win over the Yankees, a go-ahead homer as Cleveland edged New York, and multiple RBIs as he climbs the AL batting race.
