Swinford bill faces budget shortfall and wide reform
Craddick warned hundreds of millions could vanish if the House blocks Swinford's plan to fix a 9.9 billion deficit. The measure promises a one time $800 teacher bonus funded by cutting non instructional school costs while granting the governor expanded agency reorganizing powers and privatization moves. Critics fear unfair cuts to districts, especially in exemplary schools, and a strengthened executive branch.

A recent bus incident involved a therapy dog hit by a driver. mother Jeannie Wood criticized speeding and lack of stop, but Clausen defended the driver saying she could not avoid the dog and that safety of children remains the priority. Wood is advised the district policy allows escalation if unsatisfied with the ruling.
