The Texas House began debate on an ethics bill to raise standards for lawmakers while in office and voting. Critics call the watered-down version modest reform. provisions expand Texas Ethics Commission powers and require disclosure of conflicts of interest and family lobbying. Debated since 2 p.m., about halfway finished after five hours.
Baytown City Council weighs funding security and EMS for the Texas vs Louisiana High School All-Stars Bayou Bowl at Stallworth Stadium on June 21. The plan would use hotel motel tax funds to cover about 1 700 to 2 000 in costs, with off duty police, Goose Creek security, and an EMS crew.
Beach City residents await a ruling from the U S Sun Circuit Court of Appeals as Beach City leaders say the battle against the proposed TSP landfill continues. Baytown City Attorney Ignacio Ramirez says the city’s suit against U S Steel may end soon.
