The Rev. F. A. Bracher of Fredericksburg and father of Mrs. J. B. Kent of Baytown died early Friday in a Fredericksburg hospital. Funeral services set for 11 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church. He was 93.
Partly cloudy to cloudy and windy through Saturday with warm temperatures in the mid 50s to low 60s. Morgan's Point tides for Saturday show high at 1:49 p.m. and low at 6:25 a.m. Sun Dial indicates sunrise at 6:33 a.m. and sunset at 8:03 p.m.

Delegates from Baytown and 44 Harris County precincts gather Saturday at Slocumb Auditorium San Jacinto College Spencer Highway for the Seventh Senatorial District Democratic Convention. Main business is electing delegates to the September state Democratic Convention. The district will cast 194 votes and consider precinct convention resolutions.
Texas senatorial candidate Lyndon Bentsen endorses Nixon's Vietnam peace push and denounces violent antiwar students. He defeated Ralph Yarborough in the Democratic primary and will face George Bush in November. He rejects using the term bums for protesters but supports the president's overall Vietnam policy while reserving judgment on Cambodia and Viet Cong sanctuary clearances.
Santa Fe AP reports Republican governors cancel spring conference due to national campus unrest. Only seven governors reach Santa Fe before heading home as Democrats and President Nixon plan a White House meeting. Shafer of Pennsylvania cites disruption of peace and violence as the reason for cancellation.
Thousands of University of Texas students joined a downtown march to protest the Cambodian invasion and Kent State killings amid college closures and walkouts. Unemployment rose from 4.4 to 4.8 percent in the past month. Viet Cong and North Vietnamese forces intensified attacks in South Vietnam as a Cambodian operation suffered heavy casualties.
In Washington thousands of antiwar demonstrators gather as President Nixon prepares a 10 p.m. EDT televised news conference from his Maryland retreat. He is expected to take a conciliatory tone after signaling a softened stance toward dissidents while announcing a joint U.S. South Vietnamese attack into Cambodia.
Senate Democrats with Republican support move to force an early Senate vote on an amendment to cut funds for U S operations in Cambodia. The plan, sponsored by Mansfield Aiken Cooper Church and four others, could reach a vote by next week with House action unlikely amid GOP opposition. Five senators urged student leaders to press their lawmakers as the drive continues.
Washington AP says the federal effort to crack high level illegal drug conspiracies may pay more than 50 000 to informants. John B Ingersoll testified about a 499 000 informers fund for BNDD and noted cooperation does not come cheap. He cited a case where a payment may exceed 50 000 for information.
Washington AP Senator Yarborough said he will not accept a write-in draft for the Senate and will back the straight Democratic ticket including Lloyd Bentsen. He noted Gov. Preston Smith asked for his help and that he will aid several Democratic candidates, while criticizing reported GOP pressure in Texas primaries. Bush won the GOP primary easily. Bentsen and his backers cited campaign expenses ranging from 700000 to 4 million dollars, with others estimating up to 6.5 million.
Federal and local officers arrested four men, two from San Antonio and two from Mexico, after undercover agents purchased heroin. The haul weighed about 92 pounds of 90 percent purity with an estimated street value of $25 million. Cash totaling $250,140 was also confiscated. One suspect tried to cut his throat during arrest.
First baseman John Mayberry has been sent to the Astros AAA farm club in Oklahoma City. Catcher Don Bryant will replace Mayberry on the roster.
Mayor Glen Walker proclaims Saturday as Fire Service Recognition Day in Baytown. Fire Chief L V Bailey and Baytown Volunteer Fire Department with the IAFF Local 1175 sponsor an open house at four stations 109 S Main 3220 Market 1507 Ward Rd and 7200 Bayway Dr. The force includes 42 fulltime paid men 95 volunteers and 13 engines.
