Goose Creek CISD named its Campus and District Teachers of the Year at the Salute to the Stars event held Thursday at Baytown Junior School. 2006 Secondary Teacher of the Year is Cheryl Evans of Ross S. Sterling High School and 2006 Elementary Teacher of the Year is Sheri Thomas of Stephen F. Austin Elementary. Campus winners from Alamo, Ashbel Smith, Bowie, Carver, Crockett, De Zavala, Harlem, Highlands, Hopper and others were recognized with district voting shaping the final honors.
The 2006 Baytown Long Neck Wildlife Festival opens tonight with gates at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Entry is $8 for adults and $5 for students seniors and military families.
