The Art League of Baytown hosts the second Art in the Park show and sale Saturday to celebrate its 56th anniversary with artists and community attendees gathered for exhibits and sales.
The Bay Area Ministerial Alliance hosts the National Day of Prayer at the Harris County Courthouse Annex in Baytown noon today. Religious leaders and area church members gather to pray for the nation and all levels of government, media, education, churches and families with emphasis on prayers for young people. The service at the flagpole lasts about 30 minutes with structured and open petitions.

Ronald Jerome Williams, a 45 year old Katrina refugee living in Baytown since the storm and employed at a goods distribution center, was found with a gunshot wound near the tennis court at Spring Creek Apartments in the 900 block of Northwood Drive Tuesday around 11 22 p m and pronounced dead at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital. USDatalink, a Baytown family business founded by Bill Jones in 1986 with 35 staff, partners with Administaff to provide HR services for smaller firms. Jeff Jones, Bill's son, says the alliance could create over 30 local jobs and will keep USDatalink name and staff in Baytown while expanding employee benefits through a larger partner.
Victims of the March 2006 BP Texas City blast travel to Austin to denounce a Texas Supreme Court August decision that frees premises owners from liability for injuries and deaths on their sites. The tragedy killed 15, with Baytown residents among the seven local losses. Linda Hunnings testified at a Monday press conference and backed hearings before state lawmakers.
