Silver Certificates Exchanged For Real Silver By Couple
Mrs. O. B. Smith and her husband, long time coin collectors, exchanged about 300 worth of silver certificates for solid silver bars via Citizens National Bank. The Treasury approved the process, sending certificates to San Francisco for conversion. As silver dollars ceased production, the couple received bars and planned to pass them down in the family.

College appropriation may vary says aide at Baytown
Theron Waddell Jr. told Baytown Chamber luncheon that Gov. Connelly’s proposed one year budget would cut Lee College instruction funds by 14 850 for 1967 68 versus the Senate two year plan. House Bill 100 would appropriate 427 050 for 1968 while Senate version SB 1 proposed 441 910. A 1 500 000 contingency fund could ease growth but many senators fear a shortfall in junior college aid.
