Goose Creek Shipyard and the Chubb Brothers Civil War Legacy
Goose Creek shipyard on Tabbs Bay became the Confederate Naval Works during the Civil War. Thomas Chubb and his brother built vessels to support the Confederate effort and later the yard contributed to federal ships and private vessels until 1869. The site later became Gaillard's Landing and part of the Goose Creek oil fields, with descendants present at a marker ceremony.
