Gray receives State award for wetlands center work
Baytown real estate developer and philanthropist Eddie V. Gray was honored by the Baytown City Council with the Individual Outstanding Service Award from the Texas Recreation and Park Society for his work on the Gray Wetlands Center. His Goose Creek Stream Greenbelt Development Committee efforts in the 1990s helped create the Goose Creek Trail, leading to grants for converting a vacant bowling alley into an educational wetlands facility. Gray, an A&M graduate, secured initial funding from ExxonMobil and later a $350,000 Texas Parks and Wildlife grant to develop the center.
