Mrs. Nancy Belillo Baytown’s likely oldest resident will reach 104 this Saturday. Belillo, a native of Italy who moved from Humble to Baytown years ago, lives with daughter Mrs. Ralph Lambright and recently enjoyed improved health. Her late husband died in 1938.

Harris County Commissioners Court called a bond election for April 23 to authorize raising 16 million dollars for Port of Houston improvements. The plan funds new docks and holding berths in Greens Bayou to expand Bolivar Roads capacity and related port upgrades. Port Commissioner R F Pruett of Baytown said the project would add at least 500 work days monthly to current port activity.
A preliminary hearing for Baytown car dealer Thad Felton’s accused killer was canceled after his attorneys and the Harris County District Attorney’s office waived it. Edward Mullane, a Boston seaman, was arrested March 6 on Decker Drive and charged with auto theft and murder. witnesses were notified to avoid appearance, but many arrived. About 21 law officers and 46 others were subpoenaed for the court appearance that did not occur.
Thurman D. MacFarland of 201% W Main says five Pasadena officers beat him after a 12:30 a.m. arrest for driving while intoxicated and assaulting an officer. His wife Diana, cited for being drunk in public, was later released after a $2 fine. Attorney Andrew J. Lannie seeks a City Council hearing and claims abuse of police authority.
