Baytown native Renfro ascends to global architecture status
Renfro, once bullied in Baytown Texas for his sexuality, shifted from music to architecture at Rice University and later Columbia. He joined Diller Scofidio Renfro in 2004, contributing to projects from Lincoln Center to Brown University and beyond. He credits early adversity with shaping his sociopolitical approach to public space and was honored with the 2015 Texas Medal of Art.
