Brushfire near Hill Country threatens homes and prompts evacuations
A brushfire sparked by a welder during a burn ban scorched about 600 acres in the Hill Country, spreading to a neighboring ranch and nearly to a resident’s property. Volunteers from a dozen groups and two Air Force Black Hawk helicopters fought the blaze as neighbors checked on residents, including a 92 year old man aided by deputies and a neighbor.
