The State Highway Commission reviewed Gulf Ritulithie’s bid of 8,601,517 for the section of the Gulf Coast super highway from the San Jacinto River to McCarty street Houston. In Minneapolis Minnesota Sen Estes Kefauver scored a decisive upset over Adlai E Stevenson in the Democratic presidential primary. With 2 720 of 3 806 precincts counted Kefauver led Stevenson 204 045 to 157 782. Officials noted potential cross voting from Republicans. Gov Orville Freeman called it a mass movement into the Democratic primary.
Channelview Civic Club secretary Allen Barnes says a May vote could decide whether about 10 000 to 12 000 residents in roughly 25 square miles near Carpenter s Bayou and San Jacinto River join a city.
